Sunni, a sprightly 13 year old Golden Retriever was vomiting intermittently and was a little off his food over several months. Examinations and blood tests revealed few clues and food elimination trials were unsuccessful.
Brad Gavaghan our visiting ultrasonography specialist checked Sunni's abdomen. An unusual mass with a hard centre was located in the intestine. The mass was restricting the flow of food, causing a backup and occasional vomiting.
Surgery followed and a mass was located in the upper intestine. Removal required cutting out a portion of the bowel and rejoining the bowel ends. Pathology tests indicated the mass was a tumour and that removal was complete.
